Master the different aspects of corrugated board in two days!

As a buyer, you will be given a broad but also sufficiently in-depth basis so that you can communicate on

an equal footing with your supplier. As a salesperson, you will gain a better understanding of your

customers' expectations. As a production or quality employee, you will have a lot of information at your

disposal that will help you to clearly assess and deal with different issues.

  • DAY 1 (17/11/2026)
    • Introduction:definitions, why corrugated board...
    • Paper as a raw material: origin of fibers (virgin fiber and recycled fiber), fabric preparations, paper machines, basic data;different types of paper
    • Tests and properties of paper: standards, devices, significance towards corrugated board
    • Corrugated board:corrugator, creasing types, introduction to corrugated types
    • Testing and properties of corrugated board:standards, devices, meaning, extra attention to ECT, establishing correlations to correctly estimate non-standard grades
    • Choice of paper types and corrugated types: comparison between paper types and corrugated types, position of paper types and corrugations in a carton complex
  • DAY 2 (18/11/2026
    • Product groups: FEFCO codes and examples
    • Finishing machines: punching machines: flat punch and rotary punch,inline machines
    • Printing: flexo printing, raster, HQ flexo,digital printing
    • Testing of corrugated boxes:compression test on empty and filled boxes, creasing resistance, drop test,horizontal impact test, vibration test
    • Visit to the IBE-BVI laboratory
    • Box calculations: box dimension and sizing, strength calculations: McKee,Zwick, Neuronal Network
    • Processing: set-up machines, examples
    • Legislation and standards: ADR (UN),FSC, PEFC...food safety
    • Challenges: trends ...

Company visit (To be confirmed)

This training is supplemented by a company visit at VPK Packaging Group in

Dendermonde. This visit will start at 2 pm with reception by Management, followed by a

tour of the production facilities. The end of the visit is scheduled around 4 pm. (times are subject to change)

We reserve the right to refuse people/companies on the basis of competition. Should there

be insufficient interested parties, this visit may also be cancelled.
