To meet the growing demand of our customers to measure PFAS content, IBE-BVI is expanding its test capacity with Combustion Ion Chromatography (C-IC). This analytical technique will be used to measure the total fluorine (TF) quantities in materials.
As Total fluorine quantification focuses on identifying PFAS chemistry, rather than individual CAS numbers, is an effective method for a broad screening of PFAS in a sample.
Therefore, this method is proposed as a starting point for conformity assessment of the PFAS limits. For food contact packaging, total fluorine is restricted to 50 mg/kg by the packaging and packaging waste regulation (PPWR, EU n° 2025/40) from 12/08/2026.
Expected: mid june 2026
